Apparatus Studio Lighting
Born from playful experimentation with vintage lighting components, APPARATUS STUDIO is led by Gabriel Hendifar. Creative output is categorized into Forewords, which define foundational design principles, and Acts, which employ those principles to explore historical reference, narrative and emotion.
Apparatus creates each piece with a devotion to the rigor of small studio craftsmanship, centering the importance of the human hand in lending soul to an object. Sensual materials such as marble, suede, horsehair, lacquer and porcelain are combined with hand-patinated brass in the studio’s dedicated New York factory to create its distinctive catalogue. Underpinning every piece is a deft balance between mechanization and the hand-made, striving equally for the contradictions of perfection and the beautiful irregularity of humanity.

Simple lines, innovative design, and classic inspirations: the three talented designers know how to connect their trained eye for antiques to today’s new shapes. Each piece of furniture is imbued with a timeless feel whilst paying homage to the 20th century’s great masters. Beautiful lacquers and fabrics, impeccable quality and refined details are the hallmark of an eclectic collection that defines the new classics of this century.
KBH FURNITURE
Københavns Møbelsnedkeri’s furniture is recognizable by its timeless beauty, continuous focus on colours and materials, and the combination of tactile surfaces. Materials guide the palette of colours and harmonize with it. It’s all a question of balance. Their designers are always focusing on elegant solutions to solve modern problems. From Japanese joints to solid brass hardware, it’s about luxury that can be treasured for generations to come.
Michael Anastassiades lighting
Michael Anastassiades is a Cypriot-born, London-based designer whose practice encompasses product, spatial interventions and experimental works. His studio aims to provoke dialogue through design. With an eye for geometric minimalism, each design carries Michael’s signature, refined look.
Michael Anastassiades’ design philosophy is to preserve the inherent qualities of the materials he uses. All of the products are artisanally made and come in natural finishes, exposed to the elements without any protective lacquers.
‘Timelessness is something we aim for in our designs. Familiarity is definitely a quality that makes something timeless but timelessness is also about materials – you need to use ones that age well and you need to use them with honesty. It’s the interaction with time that makes a design timeless.’
DE CASTELLI FURNITURE
Founded by Albino Celato, a fourth-generation blacksmith, De Castelli is an Italian brand dedicated to the art of ‘hard couture’. Infusing artisan ideas and workmanship into industrial processes, it seeks to push metal to its fullest potential. By combining age-old techniques with advanced engineering, it creates modern surfaces, furniture and products.
Contemporary design is fundamental to De Castelli, and the company has created its own collections of furniture and products in collaboration with some of the world’s leading designers. Bookcases, storage units, tables, chairs and lighting are shaped in hammered brass, mottled copper, weathered steel and délabré brass.
Working closely with architects and designers on bespoke commissions, as well as offering finishes and furniture for domestic use to consumers, De Castelli’s stated aim is to “bend metal to the requirements of different spaces and uses, to shape it to the tastes and desires of a sophisticated and demanding clientele.”
